Before becoming professor, Gianmario Motta has been partner  in Deloitte Consulting in the field of systems integration and in charge of Telecommunications. In over 20 years of consulting experience, professor Motta led ERP, CRM and BI projects in a variety of sectors, as telecom , manufacturing, chemical and also banking and government. He has published the reference text books on Information Systems for Italian Universities and has several international publications. He has been teaching in various universities in Italy (University of Pavia, Politecnico di Milano, LIUC- Castellanza (Milan) , University of Brescia, University of Salento) and visited some Chinese Universities (HIT, Tongji).

 

内容摘要

Service Level Management (SLM) is the management system by which corporations plan, monitor, control and improve the service level that of IT systems. The ongoing technology evolution impacts heavily on SLM. With the so called mash up users compose services by putting together applications; with cloud computing the configuration of execution is not bounded to the applications architecture. SLM may become a key issue, since the systems that control service a fuzzy dynamically changing execution becomes as important as the systems that deliver services. The first presentation is a case study about SLM in Ferrovie (=Italian  Railways); it shows how to link business outcomes to business services  - a key issue in service level management. The second presentation shows results of a survey on the current practice of SLM, made by in-depth structured interviews on large corporations. It relates the SLM profile to the characteristics of the corporation, to the profile of its IT organization and, finally, to the years of experience with SLM itself. SLM is prfiled on three dimensions, namely the variables that measure the service level, the information system that monitor and analyzes service levels, and, finally, the organization needed to run SLM.
