主要内容:Polysilsesquioxanes are a class of hybrid organic inorganic materials where in organic groups are attached to a siloxane network through a non-hydrolyzable Si-C bond. These materials are formed from the sol-gel polymerization of organotrialkoxysilanes, a common class of surface modifying agents.We have investigated the fundamental chemistry and physics leading up to these materials, with a particular emphasis on the formation of gels, which are useful as insulation, chromatographic media, catalyst supports and more. We have also examined the formation of new membranes for gas separations, ways of making stronger, ultra-low density aerogels, the preparation of fuel cell membranes, and formulation polysilsesquioxane based sunscreens.This presentation will introduce the basics of polysilsesquioxanes, discuss how their properties can be tailored for many applications and finish identifying some challenges that remain un-finished.

主讲人简介:Douglas A. Loy教授,美国亚利桑那大学材料科学与工程系、化学与生物化学系教授,美国化学会会员,美国材料研究学会会员,美国溶胶凝胶学会会员。发表论文200余篇,其中部分论文刊登在化学类顶级期刊JACSChem. Rev Accounts of Chemical Research Angew. Chem.Int. Ed上。
