Douglas A. Loy教授,美国亚利桑那大学材料科学与工程系教授,J. Materials Research期刊编委会委员;美国化学会会员;美国材料研究学会会员;美国溶胶凝胶学会会员。科研专长:有机三烷氧基硅的溶胶凝胶化学(气凝胶);酸催化无水溶胶凝胶化学(有机无机杂化材料、微电子材料);桥联型多面体低聚倍半硅氧烷 (POSS)(隔膜、断桥技术、荧光纳米颗粒);新型燃料电池和气体隔离膜。获美国亚利桑那大学教学奖,NNSA国防项目奖(Stockpile Stewardship计划重大贡献),美国沙迪亚国家实验室杰出技术奖(10次)。发表论文200篇,其中,最高IF为33.033,在化学类顶级期刊—JACS (IF: 9.023)上发表7篇,在Chemistry of Materials期刊上(IF: 6.400)发表19篇,专利成果15项。
课程简介:
Students will understand the fundamentals of the bio-fouling process as it pertains to marine vessels, medical devices, water lines, and water purification membrane systems. They will also learn what anti-fouling measures have been taken in the past and their environmental consequences. They will understand the general principles of biocide based anti-fouling systems, their advantages and disadvantages, and what is currently being developed. They will also understand surface free energy and surface topological engineering to reduce adhesion of biofilms.

4) Small molecule biocides in paints
5) Inherently biocidal paint
6) Surface modification methods for preventing fouling & conclusion of course.
Assessment:
The students would have a homework exercise involving using the literature and writing a one page report demonstrating proficiency in principles learned in lectures.
