THE DRAGON IN GLOBAL PERSPECTIVE
[ 作者:田金弘 来源:语言文学学院 浏览:316 录入时间:2017年10月9日 ]

ABSTRACT:

While the dragon is the commonly recognized icon for China, just as the bear is for Russia and the eagle for the United States, it is much more than a national emblem. In global lore this mysterious figure turns up at both the beginning and end of the shared human story. It is morally ambiguous, associated with both creation and destruction, but subject at least in part to control by words. World storytelling is engaged in acknowledging and mastering the mystery.
